December 28 is my sister’s birthday.
She’s only 15 months older than me, and she spent her childhood birthdays with unfair timing.
Three days after Christmas meant combined gifts.
Afterthought celebrations.
Almost never her own real party.
And yet she has always been the opposite of overlooked.
She’s a brilliantly shining star.
One who supported me, guided me, lifted me, and taught me more than she’ll ever realize.
She continues to.
I’ve never stopped looking up to my Big Sis … even though I probably outgrew her around age 12.
