
Google’s latest update closes one of the biggest measurement gaps in social media marketing.
Only a week ago, I wrote about a growing problem.
Brands are pouring millions into social content and influencer marketing, yet much of that investment remains invisible when people ask AI search engines what to buy.
Now there’s some encouraging news.
Not directly from AI, though.
From good ’ol Google.
Google Search Console has introduced Platform Properties, allowing creators and brands to connect their Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X accounts and finally see how their social content performs in Google Search.
So, you can track the search terms that lead people to your posts, measure clicks and impressions, and understand which topics are attracting searchers. The feature is rolling out over the coming weeks.
That may sound like a minor update, but I don’t think it is.
You see, for years, social SEO has largely been an act of faith. Marketers carefully chose keywords, wrote searchable captions, created educational videos, and prayed Google would connect the dots.
Now, at last, we’ll know.
That changes how content gets planned, and the entire process.
Instead of asking, “What performed well on Instagram?” marketers can start asking, “What are people actively searching for that our social content already answers?”
Those are two vastly different questions, and the outcomes can be nothing less.
This also reinforces a broader trend.
Search, social, and AI are getting increasingly intertwined. Buyers don’t care where they discover an answer. They simply expect to get one. The companies that organize their content around real customer questions instead of isolated channels will have an increasing advantage.

Successful products get bought even more when they become easier to discover. And every improvement that helps customers find relevant information at the moment they need it increases the likelihood they’ll choose YOU over someone else.
Visibility has always mattered, and now we can finally measure lots more of it.
